Defence Signals Directorate Reveal their secrets....Protect our own

the Cyber security operations centre

The Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) is a Defence Signals Directorate capability that serves all government agencies.

The CSOC has two main roles:

  • it provides government with a comprehensive understanding of cyber threats against Australian interests; and
  • it coordinates operational responses to cyber events of national importance across government and critical infrastructure.

The CSOC serves all government agencies and has embedded representation from a number of other agencies involved in assessing the threat to, and the protection of, Australian interests from sophisticated threat actors. The CSOC will also assist CERT Australia, in the Attorney-General's Department, to support industry that owns or manages critical infrastructure.

The Cyber Security Event Hotline

The CSOC manages a 24/7 Cyber Security Event Hotline to enable government agencies to report cyber events. Please refer to the Cyber Security Event Reporting guidelines for more details of what events to report and what reporting mechanisms are available.

Critical private sector organisations that identify any suspicious network activity should seek advice from CERT Australia.
