DSD is a member of the Intelligence and Security group within the Department of Defence and forms part of the Australian Intelligence Community (AIC). More

"DSD is a highly professional, people oriented organisation and
a key Australian intelligence agency that collects and produces foreign
signals intelligence and advises the Australian Government and the Australian
Defence Forces on computer and information security.
As the information security authority, DSD is responsible for
protecting Australian government networks against electronic attack."
Please note that all positions at DSD are part of a broadband. Starting
salaries will be offered within the applicable broadband based on qualifications,
skills and experience. DSD has three broadbands as follows *(from 6 March
2008)
- DSD Broadband 1 (APS Level 1-2) $36,201 - $46,056
- DSD Broadband 2 (APS Level 3-6) $46,665 - $72,595
- DSD Broadband 3 (APS Executive Level 1-2) $80,319 - $111,009
