Division: Defence Signals Directorate

Duty Statement

Under supervision as to the method of approach and requirements, undertake the following:

• Perform engineering work requiring individual judgement and initiative in the application of engineering techniques and methods
• Participate in the preparation of standards, briefs, procedures and designs for systems and equipment.
• Participate in engineering studies and evaluation of systems and equipment designs and novel concepts.
• Undertake programming and / or elements of systems analysis design.
• Install and configure computer systems and networks and provide specialist technical advice.
• Monitor performance, investigate and remedy failures in computer and software systems and networks.
• Analyse, develop and implement ICT security measures.
• Participate in the management and development of ICT systems.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT / KNOWLEDGE IN A DISCIPLINE RELEVANT TO THE ROLE

Mandatory:

• Employment with DSD is subject to satisfying the requirements of an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) and a Top Secret (Positive Vet) security clearance. All applicants must be Australian Citizens and must be able to account for their personal background for the past 10 years.
• A degree or diploma from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which in the opinion of the Secretary, is appropriate to the duties or
• Other qualifications comparable to those above, which in the opinion of the Secretary are appropriate to the duties.
