Defence Signals Directorate

Reveal their secrets....Protect our own

Our mission tells a lot about what we do. DSD is the national agency responsible for the collection, analysis and distribution of foreign signals intelligence (known as Sigint), and the national authority on information, communications and computer security (Infosec).

DSD has also established the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC). CSOC will provide the government with a comprehensive understanding of cyber threats and coordinate operational responses to cyber events.

As part of the Australian Government's Department of Defence and the Australian Intelligence Community, DSD operates some of the most powerful, leading edge technologies in a dynamic environment to support its objectives:

Combating international crime, weapons proliferation and terrorism

Supporting military operations

Protecting Australian Government computer networks

The work we perform is dynamic, unique, critical and incredibly rewarding.

While the Directorate’s intelligence-related activities and operations are classified in the interests of national security, we invite you to browse our website which contains general information about our organisation, its objectives and long history devoted to securing Australia and its interests.

DSD’s information security role is not classified and further information can be found on this website.
